Thanks Sally. I think it would be good if we learnt here about Jamie's schedule - rather than looking up potential tournies to see if he's playing :)

I think it would be good if we learnt here about Jamie's schedule
Unfortunately if Jamie doesn't tell anyone what he's up to we'll all be kept in the dark.
So far there is absolutely no news of his plans for 2009 - but hopefully he'll let on to Rob who can update us.
Obviously he'll be playing the AO but before that we just don't know what he'll do. The dubs players don't have to sign in until the Friday or Saturday before an event starts so they can make last minute decisions all the time.
However, I'm hoping he'll pitch up at one of those 2 events so the work involved in setting them up hasn't been in vain!!!

I'm sure we will find out soon enough but we're a bit in the dark at the moment. Hopefully Jamie will find a regular partner soon.

John Lloyd's said that Jamie & Eric are playing together at AO - so maybe they'll practice at Brisbane or Chennai if they can get in.

Well, the England cricketers are currently in Chennai...

What trouble are you referring to? The only recent trouble in India was in Mumbai.

I think there has been quite a lot of unrest in some parts of India but not sure if Chennai has been affected in any way.

Yes, I heard a lot about serious troubles in Mumbai but nothing in Chennai.

There was a lot of indecision about whether the Enland cricket team would go. I think some top tennis players might choose opt out.

The problem is that wherever you go these days there is the possibilty of a terrorist threat. Do you change your life style to and accept or fight for normality. I was in Egypt in 1952 during the Suez crisis and saw some atrocities then, as a 10 year old, but I still wouldn't give into terrorists.

Well, I certainly hope there's no trouble in Chennai as my husband is flying out there on Dec. 28th for 10days.

13-12-2008, 12:41 AM
Will he be there strictly for business or will he be able to hit up the tournament? Mark/Hesh are playing there, as is Leander. :D
RoastLamb
14-12-2008, 09:12 PM
No, he's there to see his family. I doubt he'll be going to the tournament - he tried to get tickets two years ago when he was over with the kids and it was completely sold out. It's about time the two top Indians played as they haven't in the last few years.

Well said Pat but I think sometimes it's Foreign Office advise not to travel and they would be foolish to ignore that.

Draw for Chennai also out, Booty & Ram have drawn the wild card pairing of Bhambri & Mankad. Bhambri is a star of the future for sure and Mankad a journeyman so an interesting pairing..
For all you Knowles fans out there he and Bhupathi have drawn the other wild card pairing of Devvarman & Amritraj. Devvarman is a top 100 singles player in the making for sure, he went to a American university, and since turning pro in June has climbed up to just outside 200 in the world.

Booty & Ram have combined ranking of 135 (they're 67 & 68), which is hugely less than their opponents at 868. However, Bhambri is only 16 (dob Jul '92) so, as Wolfie implies, his lower rank of 681 is probably irrelevant.
Good luck to Booty
BTW I used the latest ATP ranking (29 Dec, I think).

At least it's Knowles and Mahesh who are about to play - bit of interest there for at least ONE of our members.
They must have had rain out there...... it's now 10.15pm by my reckoning
Also, I can't see any results posted so maybe they're skipping the singles and putting this match on simply because it features 'local' lads?
EDIT - I've just seen the note on the ATP site about Davydenko withdrawing from Chennai AND the AO.
Still nothing happening on L.S. - it's getting late out there now

I don''t think it's the whether but the LS that is the problem, they have been changing the match on there but it never seems to get past 0-0! And of course they had Davy v Dlouhy playing on there earlier when Davy pulled out in the warm-up!
Sallydaisy
07-01-2009, 03:34 PM
Thanks Wolfie - another match is now being displayed so your LS theory is probably correct.

Schuettler withdrew from his singles match with a wrist injury - so maybe Booty will get a w/o?
Chennai
Cilic has beaten Granollers in the first Semi and Devvarman had a w/o win in the other due to Schuettler withdrawing with a wrist injury.
So the Final is Cilic v Devvarman tomorrow Sunday.

I guess Booty'll have a week off. He gets 250 points from this which takes him to 2170 pts which is what this week's WR 50 has. (He's defending 300 at AO.)

YAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! Congrats Booty and Rajeev! Booty really needed a start like this to help pad his ranking because the R3 points at the Aussie Open are his best from the slams last year.
Hope this bodes well for the Aussie Open with Jamie!

Congrats Booty,:trophy::trophy::boogie::boogie::yahoo:
Enjoy you're week off, then good luck with Jamie at the AO during the following week.
We will all be cheering you both on every second of the day and night.
However, I might rest up occasionally just to eat and sleep.............

Go Booty and Ram! Maybe this could be a permanent partnership if Booty's not going to stay with Jamie.
